Privacy Policy

This policy explains what information Pollzy collects, how we use it, when we share it, and the choices available to you.

This Privacy Policy applies to the Pollzy mobile application, Pollzy websites, account tools, support forms, and related services operated by Social Spaces LLC ("Pollzy", "we", "us", "our").

This policy describes what information we collect, how we use it, when we share it, and your choices. Some app stores, advertising partners, payment providers, and sign-in providers may also process information under their own privacy policies.

1. Information We Collect

Information you provide directly

  • Account and profile information: email address, username, display name, password credentials handled by Firebase Authentication, birth date, phone number, optional profile photo, profile preferences, linked sign-in providers, and account verification details such as verification session identifiers, verification status, verified name/date-of-birth outputs, identity-match flags, rejection reasons, and review history.
  • User content and activity: polls, poll images, comments, direct messages, support chat messages and attachments, message requests, message reactions, chat reports, votes, vote-visibility choices, shares, follows, vibe checks, duel invites, profile pair stats, reports, bug reports, moderation appeals, and other content or actions you submit in the app.
  • Purchases and entitlements: subscription status, Pollzy+ plan, boost purchases, boost balance, restore-purchase status, app-store product identifiers, transaction identifiers, and RevenueCat customer identifiers. We do not receive your full payment card number from Apple, Google, or RevenueCat.
  • Settings and preferences: notification settings, privacy and friend-discovery settings, messaging settings, ad personalization choices, language, region, and app preferences.
  • Communications: information you send to us by email, support forms, in-app support chat, contact forms, bug reports, newsletter signups, or similar channels, including your message content, attachments, contact details, and related support-ticket status.

Contacts and friend discovery

  • If you choose to sync contacts, Pollzy requests access to your device contacts so we can help you find people you know and suggest invitations.
  • The app may read contact names, phone numbers, and email addresses on your device. For matching, contact phone numbers and email addresses are normalized, hashed, and sent to Pollzy servers to compare against hashed discoverability records for Pollzy users.
  • We may store that you imported contacts, friend-discovery matches, and discoverability settings. Pollzy does not intentionally store your full device address book on our servers for contact matching.
  • Your own account email address and phone number may be hashed and indexed so people who already have that email address or phone number can find you, unless you change your friend-discovery settings.
  • If you invite someone by SMS or email, your device messaging or email provider processes that invitation under its own terms and privacy policy.

Information we collect automatically

  • Device and app data: device model, operating system, app version, device language, region, network context, identifiers, signed-in device records such as sign-in/sign-out timestamps and per-install device identifiers, and technical diagnostics.
  • Analytics and performance data: app launches, sessions, screen and feature interactions, poll and boost engagement events, crash logs, error logs, app instance identifiers, and Remote Config or experiment data.
  • Recommendation activity: polls shown in the For You feed, viewing duration, quick skips, votes, comments, shares, follows attributed to recommendations, Not interested choices, recent recommendation history, and derived category, signal, and creator preference weights.
  • Push notification data: Expo push token(s), notification preferences, delivery metadata, badge counts, notification interaction data, and in-app notification records, including chat, support, broadcast, and policy-update notification data.
  • Presence and activity status: online/offline state, last-seen timestamp, read receipts, typing indicators, and similar activity signals.
  • Advertising data: ad request and response data, advertising identifiers where available, ad personalization settings, non-personalized or personalized ad request choices, rewarded ad events, native ad events, and ad measurement data through Google AdMob and related Google services.
  • Moderation, safety, and classification data: reports, enforcement actions, content-review results, AI moderation results, poll classification metadata, chat link-safety results, unsafe-link rejection records, derived topic/personality signals, rejected-content counters, admin notes, and metadata needed to protect users and the platform.
  • Approximate location signals: Pollzy does not collect precise GPS location, but we and our providers may infer approximate location from IP address, device settings, app-store region, or similar signals for security, analytics, localization, and advertising.

Website information

When you visit Pollzy websites or use web forms, we may collect information such as IP address, browser and device data, referrer, pages viewed, cookie or local-storage consent preferences, Google Analytics events where enabled, newsletter signup details, and contact/support form submissions.

2. How We Use Information

We use information to:

  • Create, verify, secure, and maintain accounts, including optional verified-badge identity review.
  • Provide social features, including poll creation, voting, comments, direct messaging, message requests, follows, notifications, vibe checks, duel invites, friend discovery, search, recommendations, and profile experiences.
  • Personalize and refresh the For You feed using engagement, recency, quality, language, region, and exploration signals while excluding content you voted on, created, blocked, or marked Not interested.
  • Process subscriptions, restore purchases, grant Pollzy+ access, sell and apply boost packs, manage boost balances, prevent purchase fraud, and support billing questions.
  • Sync contacts when you choose to use friend discovery and allow other users to find you through hashed contact matching according to your settings.
  • Moderate content, classify polls for discovery and Vibe Insights, scan chat links for safety, detect abuse, investigate reports, enforce our Terms and Community Guidelines, and protect user safety.
  • Send push notifications and in-app notices you enable.
  • Deliver, limit, personalize, measure, and improve ads, including rewarded ads and native ads.
  • Operate, debug, analyze, and improve app reliability, performance, security, and product quality.
  • Respond to emails, bug reports, contact forms, newsletter requests, in-app support chats, support tickets, attachment requests, and data-rights requests.
  • Comply with legal obligations, app-store requirements, tax and accounting obligations, and requests from lawful authorities.
  • Protect the rights, property, safety, and integrity of Pollzy, users, partners, and the public.

3. Public, Social, and Messaging Content

Pollzy is a social app. Polls, poll images, comments, profile information, follows, votes, vibe-check activity, rankings, and other social activity may be visible to other users depending on the feature and your settings.

Content shared publicly may be copied, re-shared, indexed, screenshotted, or captured by others. Deleting content from Pollzy does not control copies saved by third parties or content that has already been sent in notifications, reports, moderation queues, logs, backups, or legal/safety records.

Direct messages are intended for the participants in a chat, but they are not guaranteed to be private from the people who receive them. Recipients may see, copy, screenshot, report, or share messages outside Pollzy. When you use chat, participants may see message text, poll shares, reactions, edited/unsent labels, read receipts, typing indicators, online status, and similar chat metadata depending on the feature and your settings.

Hiding or deleting a chat removes it from your own inbox and, for Delete Chat, clears your visible message history from that point for you. It does not delete the other participant's copy or records retained for reports, moderation, safety, legal, backup, or audit purposes. Unsending a message removes the message content from the chat view where supported, but some records may remain for safety, moderation, legal, backup, or audit purposes.

Pollzy Support conversations are support workflows between you and Pollzy administrators. Support chats may include ticket summaries, staff response templates, status changes, messages, and image or video attachments you upload in response to a support attachment request. These records may be visible to authorized Pollzy administrators and retained for support, quality, safety, legal, backup, and audit purposes.

Vote visibility controls may hide your vote from certain profile or voter-list surfaces, or show you as anonymous in some views. These controls do not remove the vote record, change aggregate vote counts, or prevent Pollzy from using vote data for app operation, safety, analytics, recommendations, Vibe Checks, Vibe Insights, and other features described in this policy.

4. Third-Party Services

Pollzy uses third-party providers that process data on our behalf or as independent controllers under their own policies. These may include:

Third-party services may collect information directly from your device or browser, including identifiers, diagnostics, purchase data, and usage data, as described in their own policies.

5. Sharing of Information

We may share information:

  • With service providers and platform partners listed above to operate, secure, monetize, analyze, and improve Pollzy.
  • With other users when you use social, public, friend-discovery, voting, profile, invite, or messaging-related features, including direct messages, message reactions, read receipts, typing indicators, online status, and vote-visibility indicators according to your settings.
  • With moderators, administrators, and safety tooling for abuse prevention, review, support, and policy enforcement.
  • With Apple, Google, RevenueCat, and related providers to process purchases, refunds, entitlements, and subscription status.
  • With advertising and analytics providers to deliver, measure, personalize, limit, and improve ads and app experiences.
  • With law enforcement, regulators, courts, or other parties when we believe disclosure is legally required or necessary to protect rights, property, safety, or platform integrity.
  • In connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, bankruptcy, sale of assets, or similar transaction, with appropriate notice where required.

We do not sell personal information for money. Depending on where you live, some advertising, analytics, and measurement activities may be considered "sharing", "targeted advertising", or a "sale" under privacy laws even when no money is exchanged. You can use device settings, app settings, web cookie controls, and applicable privacy-rights requests to limit these activities where available.

6. Retention

We retain information only as long as reasonably needed for the purposes described in this policy, including to provide the service, maintain records, resolve disputes, prevent abuse, comply with law, and enforce our Terms.

Retention examples in Pollzy:

  • Account profile, purchase entitlement, and social graph data: while your account is active or as needed for records, safety, and legal purposes.
  • Identity verification records: while your account remains verified or as needed for fraud prevention, safety, audit, support, legal, and platform-integrity purposes.
  • Contact-discovery metadata: while your account is active or until you change settings, delete your account, or request deletion, subject to safety and legal exceptions.
  • For You recommendation profiles and Not interested choices: while your account is active or until you reset recommendations or delete your account. Compact poll-candidate records are generally retained for no more than about 12 months, may remain for up to about 90 days after becoming ineligible when that is earlier, and may receive a short cleanup grace for an active boost.
  • Direct messages, support chats, chat summaries, support-ticket attachments, message reactions, read receipts, typing/online-status metadata, and chat-link safety records: while needed to provide messaging, manage conversations, respond to support requests, support reports, enforce safety rules, or comply with legal, backup, and audit needs. Per-user Hide Chat and Delete Chat controls affect your own inbox and visible history, not necessarily other participants' copies or retained safety records.
  • Push notification records: generally up to about 90 days.
  • Data export download links: generally available for a short period, such as about 5 days.
  • Support tickets, support chat records, support attachments, contact forms, newsletter records, and bug reports: as long as needed to respond, maintain business records, resolve attachments or issues, and improve the service.
  • User-requested deleted polls/comments: may remain hidden and queued before purge, for example around 30 days.
  • Moderation-removed content, reports, rejected-content records, and enforcement history: may be retained longer for safety, audit, abuse-prevention, and legal purposes, for example around 90 days or longer where necessary.
  • Account deletion requests: we process deletion and remove personal data from active systems as quickly as practical, generally within 30 days, subject to legal, security, fraud-prevention, billing, backup, and safety exceptions.

Backups, security logs, app-store purchase records, and provider logs may persist for a limited additional period.

7. Your Choices and Rights

You can:

  • Access and update profile data in the app.
  • Use friend-discovery settings to control whether other users can find you by email address or phone number.
  • Use messaging privacy settings to control message requests, read receipts, online status, and typing indicators where available.
  • Mute, hide, delete, report, or block chats/users using in-app messaging controls where available.
  • Use available vote-visibility controls to hide or unhide your votes on supported surfaces.
  • Use Not interested on a For You poll or reset your recommendation profile in Settings > Privacy & Data. A reset clears learned weights, recent recommendation history, and Not interested choices while preserving votes and account blocks.
  • Decline contacts access, revoke contacts permission in device settings, and refresh contact matching only when you choose to sync.
  • Disable push notifications in app settings and/or device settings.
  • Control ad personalization in Settings > Ads, and control tracking choices in device settings and any in-app or web consent controls we provide.
  • Review signed-in device records in Settings > Security > Signed In Devices where available.
  • Manage subscriptions through your Apple App Store or Google Play account.
  • Restore purchases in the app where available.
  • Request a copy of your data in-app where the feature is available.
  • Delete your account in-app through Settings > Account > Delete Account or contact us.
  • Request data help at hello@pollzy.app.

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, export, restrict, object to, or opt out of certain processing of your personal information. You may also have the right to appeal a decision we make about a privacy request. Contact us at hello@pollzy.app and we will handle requests as required by applicable law.

We may need to verify your identity before fulfilling a request. Some information may be retained where permitted by law, such as for security, fraud prevention, legal compliance, billing records, safety, moderation, or backup integrity.

8. Children

Pollzy is intended for users 16 years and older.

Users under 16 are not eligible to create an account. If you believe a child under 16 has provided personal data, contact hello@pollzy.app and we will investigate and delete information where appropriate.

9. Security

We use administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect information. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

10. International Transfers

Pollzy infrastructure is hosted primarily on Google Cloud/Firebase. Information may be processed in the United States and other countries where we or our providers operate. Privacy protections in those countries may differ from the protections where you live.
